Cloth Awning Cleaning

Depending on your awning material you will need to use different cleaning solutions.

Dip the clean cloth into the cleaning solution and spread the cleaner all over the awning. Prepare a special cleaning mixture. Once the entire surface of the awning has been soaked with cleaner let it sit for about 15 minutes. Once the awning is dried you can leave it alone until the next cleaning.

If stubborn stains persist you can use a diluted chlorine bleach soap mixture for spot cleaning of mildew roof run off and other similar stains. Re dip the cloth as necessary so that cleaning solution reaches every inch of the fabric otherwise you might miss some of the mildew. Two ounces one fourth cup of natural soap. If your awnings are made of aluminum use a solvent especially created for it.

Add 3 ounces of a mild laundry soap such as the kind used for baby clothes or delicate washables per gallon of water. A great cleaning solution for fabric awnings is htd heavy duty detergent. Once that happens the awning s appearance and structural integrity become a problem cleaning your awning regularly will minimize these risks and give your awning a longer life. This detergent is especially effective if you decide to wash the awning fabric in a washing machine.

If you took the awning down to clean it put it back up while it s still damp so it ll easily stretch to fit its mount. Four ounces half cup of chlorine bleach. Then leave the awning open and spread out to let it air dry completely. Htd heavy duty detergent is strong enough to remove those tough stains yet mild enough to use on a wide arrange of fabrics.

To clean metal awnings use a metal cleaning solvent and water. Hang the awning out to air dry and leave it until the next cleaning.
